4. BETTER MADE.... get real wood...poo on particleboard and furniture in a box...
5. CONNECTS YOU WITH THE PAST.... having old things around is just kind of soulful....and there is always something to learn....
6. GREENER...reuse, recycle, repurpose.....its fun and easy with antiques and vintage...
7. SUPPORTS LOCAL BUSINESSES.... buy locally !! SUPPORT YOUR AREA BUSINESSES.... find a good junk shop....and get old good old american made things.... from back when that meant quality...!!!
8. MORE FUN....definitely!!! and so outside the box, if thats your pleasure...
9. MORE VARIETY.... for sure... from buttons to mantles from steampunk to hankies....
10. MAKES YOU LOOK INTERESTING AND ADVENTUROUS ....look at the great antiquers in the world...from queen elizabeth to sanford and son...and the best stores are copying the look you can get if you go out into the antique market.. .

YESTERDAY BOUGHT MORE DISHES..... where are my dish buyers?? and misc linens, including some feed sack material...

part of our cowbooy department..

this load pretty well trashed the whole store ....the day before we left for ohio....but we work fast and now its all put away...including lots of cowboy stuff and an american flyer train....and old marbles....and several dolls...and some nice victorian clothes..

WE ARE DEFINITELY PACKED!!! which is always a good thing for antiquers....for our fun customers ...more is definitely better...

road trip

WE WENT TO THE SPRINGFIELD EXTRAVAGANZA....IN OHIO a huge flea market with thousands of dealers.... and got the truck full of goodies for the store.....didnt get this pretty blue cabinet but loved the color.... we might have a dreary brown one in the rough room.

there were rows and rows of booths ....most higher than at our store....but still fun to see....

more of our pile... these little benches are so useful...i got a lot in this booth....real antiques from eastern europe, china, canada, france...also got Canadian saps, old ships wheels , cute little wood berry buckets, nice big wicker suitcase, and lots more...i only see this guy 2 times a year...and so glad to buy there for the store....

TREND WATCH

*old metal was showing up in lots of places....anything cool and industrial looking..and the prices seem to be going up!!.i got lots of metal baskets and containers of different kinds....

*there was lots SHABBY, RECYCLED, AND REHABBBED furniture ...which is always fun,,,and mostly white furniture, but also of a nice blue, like above...

* SOME ART....IM SO INTO JUNK ART NOW,,, seems like there is a lot that looks like the atc cards or scrapbookking themes blown up into big huge pieces.... i really liked them but couldnt see selling here....the artists really dont or cant wholesale their things...

*i love anything with drawers...lots of that but usually very high....

* basically industrial was front and center and the biggest change i noticed....happily when i got home jon had bought a nice big pile of industrial ...but at our lower indiana prices....


heres what we bought....and should be ALL out by monday

saps, twig furniture, seated hall seat, blanket chest, little benches, berry buckets, tons of metal containers and baskets, egg baskets, nautical life rings, big baskets, burl bowls, big carved fish, several ship wheels, big coke sign, several other signs, pile of sewing machine drawers, JUNK ART cows, scary penguin,car.....old corbels, nice porcelain hands, cool spools...little metal birds..flag signs...

ALSO JON GOT... while we were gone....oak coffee table..cool metal cabinet with drawers, old oars, more tool boxes...

we will be unpacking today....

question for the day....WHERE ARE WE GOING TO PUT IT ALL!!!!

i love seeing other dealers things...and how they display .....and over there there are lots of good early antiques as well....it was a good weekend....

..WHEN REALLY WE ARE FULL OF VERY NICE normal high quality FURNITURE RIGHT NOW....LOTS OF BEAUTIFUL HARVEST TABLES...JON HAS REALLY GOTTEN SOME GORGEOUS LEGS...LOTS OF 7 FOOTERS...SEVERAL BIG CHICAGO CUPBOARDS,..THOSE BIG MASSIVE ONES 7 FT TALL AND 6 FT WIDE....OR BIGGER... ALSO SEVERAL BIG HALL SEAT MIRRORS....made by the amish out of old parts...

lots of buffets...oak secretary....sofa tables...french buffets...nice black buffets...buffets in the rough....cut down buffets....big beautiful oak mantles....oak commode... chair sets...DOZENS OF T ABLES FROM SMALL TO LARGE.... and lots more....

lots of our big counters/ islands.. all made from old architectural parts and pieces.... some white some black...some with doors, some with overhangs, some with tins....

also lots of BOOKCASES AND STORAGE CABINETS FROM OUR CARPENTERS..

just in....NICE HOUSE CALL TONIGHT... lots of toys and dolls from the 40s and 50s... old bible, nice frames,a perfect flower garden quilt, some dresses from the 1800s, crocks, jewelry and purses, lots of neat little stuff....plus a big pile of farm misc/junk.... today jon is getting 400 neat patterned paving bricks.

ROAD TRIP.

im going on a big buying trip....armed with checkbook and truck....

see last may for the last time i went.... its the big springfield ohio flea market...with over 1000 sellers...

my bucket list....

e gadds ...i turned 65....better write down my bucket list....before i forget it...

1. road trip....with a semi, 50,000$ and a couple of big guys.... maybe go out east to brimfield and pennsylvania to really buy some cool things....and DONT COME HOME TILL ITS ALL SPENT.....
2. grand tour of europe...to see it all....
3. toronto....
4. pick 4 cities and live in each for a month...san francisco, chicago,
5. do shows all summer...dh would hate it....
6. get a maid....
7. ORGANIZE A BUSINESS AROUND TRIPS TO BIG FLEAMARKETS..

seems like im paying good money for a lot of junk lately....this cutie, WONT IT BE A GREAT CENTERPIECE!!!..AND lotsof old windows and fence...but we haVe also bought lots of good stuff too...12 buffets and several tables and nice little furniture...

lots of fun signs right now..including some old street signs....and 2 huge coke signs...

lots of furniture now...including oak bookcases, several small oak church pews..4 harvest t ables,.and some hallseats....
plus the rough room is full...with lots of easy projects.... some call it the orphan room, the redo room, and ive even heard it mentioned as the junk room...not to my face tho!! anyway its full again...
