painting

we are still painting lots of furniture..... we have lots of white and lots of black......
another store owner told me she sells lots of apple green , so i might try that....
our painter does most of the fine work, like the white buffet above ....but i do a lot too, the wildest mixed up kind like the beachy look and some of the real grubby things...

the main thing with painting old furniture is to make sure the paint will stick....so if its real shiny you have to do something..... we might sand it or use a primer like kilz....

we still like a drybrush coat over a solid coat....it makes such a nice casual finish....not too perfect....plus it can cover some of the inevitable flaws on an old piece...
heres another blog with great paint directions..she uses glazes...which we havent tried yet.....and pictures..http://karlascottage.typepad.com/karlascottage/2009/05/how-to-custom-paint-furniture-the-short-cut-way.html

I love that green shelf unit!! And that glass 'house' below it is pretty neat too.
