the amish carpenters

we have a great family of amish carpenters who do rehab work for us...they have the skill and willingness to try allmost any project we send their way..... they dont have electricity or telephone...but somehow they do have a state of the art carpenter shop....run by gas or something!!!!

jon networks with them and they meet up every week...if they need to talk they are allowed a little community phone booth out by their road....

anyway here is a picture of some of their work...harvest tables....we get the legs, nice big fat ones about 100 yrs old are our favorites.... we get them and take them to the amish and they do the rest...we usually have a selection of 7 ft and sometimes 6 ft harvest tables....running 400$ to 600$ more for the solid oak with great legs....

the amish we use are also good at matching old wood and new...a very hard thing to do... they can also reproduce missing carvings and plaster when needed....

all in all its a very good mutual relationship.....and they help save a lot of wonderful old things........
