amish + chicago

we call these our chicago cupboards....they started life at the turn of the century in houses up in chicago... as part of the walk thru between the kitchen and the dining room...the butlers pantry...
.. in chicago we have guy who finds them as the old houses get torn down.
..and he sells them to us..
.they are pulled out of the wall and come in in really rough condition...with no sides or top molding....
then we take them to the amish and get them all rehabbed...
they are big and beautiful....and come in two pieces...super heavy!!! and usually just under 8 ft tall.....they can make a fabulous focal point in a room... this one is all oak...they run between $1200 and 2000$...we have just one right now... ...but the one in the picture is gone...
sometimes we have one or 2 in the rough room...none now , but when we get them they run between 300 and 600 usually pretty rough tho...
