props for shops

here are some of our things that i think would be great for a store display .....

we sell to so many neat stores and businesses....especially the indie outside the box kinds of places.... where the owners need something besides ikky particle board..and boring design.......

... dang, we never do shows so mostly they have to come here....but we do have a huge inventory at all times with plenty to pick from.......the buyer we dream about is one who flies in, loves our stuff and buys and sends her truck for pick up....... we can store things for you till you can pick up...we dont do lay away or custom work....

we have a new idea that i hope some far away businesses will use....and thats buying from us thru pictures and phone calls and then working out the shipping with upack..... or some place like that...

.we can pack a truck but we cant crate or put things on pallets...... we cant arrange shipping.....

SOME REAL POPULAR THINGS WE SELL TO STORES.....

OUR COUNTERS ARE number 1... THEY ARE BIG AND HEAVY DUTY...YOU CAN BE ROUGH WITH THEM.. WE TRY FOR GREAT STYLE AND A LOT OF GOOD OLD PARTS...350 to 550$$$$$

THE BIG IRON TREES...THESE MAKE BIG FOCAL POINTS AND HOLD ALL KINDS OF HANGY THINGS...under 200$$$$

OUR BIG IRON DRESS DUMMIES....THEY ARE GREAT FOR SCARVES, APRONS ETC ETC....under 100$$$$

and our SHELVING AND CABINETS....WE HAVE 20 TO 30 BIG ONES TO PICK FROM AT ANY GIVEN TIME....most big ones from 250 to 350$$$.
tables....we have a huge selection fancy, country, 7 ft and even bigger, some wild recycles ones usually.... from 50 to 500$$$$...all made here by indiana carpenters, and out of good wood , not pine...

garden iron....we have the big stuff...tall arbors, tall armillaries, even gazebos..... and also huge metal animals.... all kinds of things to build cool store displays , entrances, divisions and focal points...

PLUS TONS OF FUN PARTS FOR THE ADVENTUROUS WHO WANT TO DO IT THEMSELVES....BRACKETS ~~ OLD DOORS~ OLD SHUTTERS~ FANCY PARTS ~PORCH POSTS ~etc etc etc....and all kinds of barn relics....

so if you have a business please keep us in mind....and if you know a store who is looking for good display pieces send them our way......

and we all know indiana is about the cheapest state to buy in!!!!

projects

this is one of my favorite projects..
.a simple old door, painted blue, a little roof and legs..
.then we pounded a nail in and hung a mirror....
IT WOULD BE SO NICE IN A LITTTLE COTTAGE...

this is probably our most popular design... ...our porchpost cupboards.... made with 100 yr old porchposts.... we have sold lots of them!!! thankfully...lots are in other stores for display....they are big and useful....and a great focal point in lots of houses....

we do lots of counters or whatever!!! maybe this one will be a bar... or maybe a mission style island
this one is made with an old door and newel posts on the ends...very manly!!!
.

we always have lots of decorative tin for sale...old and new....the new comes in 2 ft squares...the old is from old ceilings.... i love using it in projects....especially our counter/bar/island/cashwraps/tvstands.... whatever you call these big guys...they look pretty cool with tin for fronts...sometimes we put the tin in to doors ...this one has old tin in the front and an open back...the new tin is a lot easier to work with than the old....but the old has more depth and contrast....

we get these matching bookcases quite often.
.circa 1910......they start in the depths of Chicago, from old houses being demolished...they were on both sides of a colonnade, the dividing part between 2 rooms....they might have had columns on top reaching up to the ceiling...they are usually pretty rough when we get them...since they were built ins usually a side is gone...
so they start in Chicago, we get the from a picker who goes up there and then they go to our Amish carpenters for total rehabbing and come back to us like this...they were built ins so usually a side has to be replaced...
i think its pretty cool...they have been on the dan ryan, thats a Chicago huge multi lane road, and in a place that still goes by horse and buggy and no electricity..... ...Jon has to pickup and deliver....the Amish do have power tools...but not electric....??? gas i think...

weve done this one a couple of times.... its a buffet and an old headboard....
both parts are from depression era furniture..

finding old headboards is pretty easy....since hardly anyone wants a 3/4 size or even a full size bed anymore..the bottom was an old buffet ...i love the queen anne legs....

we always have lotsof old furniture needing a litttle tlc....just look in our rough room and for old porchposts and doors look out under the awning....
i like what thomas edison said..
TO INVENT YOU JUST NEED IMAGINATION AND APILE OF JUNK....

trash to treasure large and small

SOME NICE BIG DARK COUNTERS CAME IN THIS WEEK.... and some nice shabby white ones.....they are all out of archetectural salvage ...we have about 8 right now...

these are some of the new counters or islands we have been making....several with doors...and a finished back.... so now we have short, tall, doors , no doors, open back , closed back....these big things are popular for stores as well as homes as islands or big bases for tvs......and now we are thinking bars too....PERFECT FOR THE STEAMPUNK KITCHEN.
..OR THE GOTHC GETAWAY
OR ANY COOL INDIE SHOP
or big tv stands
OR ANY COTTAGE OR SHABBY SHOP OR HOME...
or a big garden display
or on a porchif it was mainly protected from the weather...

they are big and heavy and mostly out of salvaged wood and tin or old doors with accents of house salvage like newel posts and corbels etc etc.... .

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
around the store....we are totally fluffed and hoping for a good weekend....some spring things have come in....we have ordered our garden iron, our first batch of handmade birdhouses have come in...
another big event...we have opened an etsy store...mainly to sell vintage supplies to the alltered artists out there...the SHABBY WORLD....THE GOTHIC WORLD... THE ALTERED ART WORLD..THE TRASH TO TREASURE WORLD....... im so excited about it...using what some would call junk is so satisfying....so if you have an altered artist or some steampunk builder or a shabby crafter send them over to http://www.gypsymarket.etsy.com/ but if you need some nice big parts...like doors, windows, old tin or furniture parts , you need to come here....
the melting pot...in recycled furniture
these are 2 of our newest creations....they could be great shabby store counters or very funky mini bars.....
the white one has great provenance.....the cool trim board under the top came from a house somewhere in ohio...we bought it at the springfield flea market....the nice old tin we put on the front came from a demolition project in chicago, and the wood from a neat pile of door trim we bought...we have always liked the idea of archetectural salvage and think it makes our best things......
..we think of these as store counters but lots get bought for very cool cottage or a castle style kitchen islands....the backs are open ..or bars...like in the tiki bar by your pool....
they are on wheels in the paint shop waiting to get rolled out to their spots...
this dark one would be good in a fun gothic kitchen .....or a vampire movie, or an industrial style store display.... its kind of a dark castle look..and very large....
right now we have about 6 of these counters, all a bit different...
i painted the top one, in my shabby driftwoody colors... my paint job is the messiest of all of us, but it fits some pieces just right....imho..
in this week...........
these are some of the finished projects this week...
i design with both store displays and home use in mind.... we sell wholesale and retail....
....i really like the big wide porchpost open shelf......its around ..300$...i have 2 inthe foo foo room and 2 for sale inthe cupboard barn...its a great store fixture....but would look fabulous in lots of houses too...
next is the big double door cabinet...about 7 ft tall...and about 375$....i love to build christmas displays on these....they hold so much...and definitely make a big statement!!
the carpenter found these nice tall windows making a cool window cabinet...its about 6 ft tall...
i got 3 of these...
we got 2 of the double door window buffets they run about 230$....they have been used for everything from baby changing tables to tv stands....very useful item!!
a true giant also came in today...but we broke the window so it might take a few days to get it out on the floor..
this batch turned out mostly white but i do have some dark ones coming too....these windows were mostly white to start with... so easier to paint white...
any of these can be bought on the phone....just call me....574 223 5702...im going to try and put some prices on the furniture i put on the blog....but you know we dont do shipping...but you can buy and figure it out later......we store for free....
i just ordered 4 new counters from the carpenters...
also i have a real dark mean looking industrial shelf ....with jagged teeth.... it would be great in a modern industrial setting or a spooky halloween display...
modern country style ....store fixtures
lots of country stores come here for their
store fixtures and big fun props
and even their counters.
the stores like our big open styles
our styles work well in all kinds of country....
primitive
or elegant country
or romantic cottage,
or totally foo foo, foo foo country?
or pottery barn farmhouse...
or serious classic country
.they are easy to fit into different store styles....
especially eclectic
.the rehabbed stuff with old elements fits
our kind of customer really well....
they like big things that can hold lots of merchandise....the businesses who come here are like our retail customers,, they want something different and interesting.... they dont want to have a bunch of junky factory made displays in their stores..
this cottage style is a big part of our wholesale
..just being a store owner they are usually brave and creative...they can take a big wierd peice and make it work in a wonderful way..
..i love going out and seeing what the other stores do with our stuff..
our big porchpost cupboards are sitting in stores all over the country....and lots of the stores heard about us from our customers...which is so nice!!!
usually a new store cant even tell me exactly who sent them to us
but we sure appreciate it...
our cupboards have been in books and magazines, picked up from
other peoples houses or stores..
one of our yardlongs was in romantic homes this month....
so far, we havent been credited, but our customers know...
and we have sold these cottage shabby cupboards and parts and accessories wholesale to stores and show people all over the east coast and midwest...
.
our shabby cottage cupboards are designed by jon and i and made right here in fulton county indiana....and with good indiana wood, not pine....they are from elm, maple, poplar, beech...they are all new construction
the fun rehabbed fantasy furniture is designed by us and built locally also...like the big door cupboards and window things..
style at the store...the white parts
this style is so popular here at the store... retail and wholesale...
..i dont have a name for it....
elagant rustic ? european country?
fancy cottage?
vintage shabby chic?
i love this style...and some very creative and adventurous buyers use this style......
its a lot
trash to treasure and
rehabbed....and at least partly antique..
a lot of this goes into stores as store display or store fixtures....
we sold a matching mirror to this big white
one
to a wedding shop , she set it up on a platform for the bride to try on dresses..
so many of our buffets are holding plasma tvs or being used as vanities in bathrooms.... which i hate to think about...
we have a few darling little vanities ring now, with the 3 part mirrors.... usually they go to lucky little girls....my grandmother had one...
the big mirror is probably 1890s
the buffet probably 1920s
and the big potting bench we just made ths summer...
i have to have classic antique lines in most of the things we make....its a modern look maybe but deep roots...
sometimes i look at an old fancy clock or building and see the framework for a cupboard....or see a cupboard and realize...it looks like the supreme court building.... its kind of wierd....how long spindles and crown molding have been around...
if you like the whimsicle side of this style...look here.... i love her site...
a lot in this style goes to garden shops and big fancy shops...they can make very large dramatic displays...they are all around our store , usually loaded down
vintage displays
we just got back from the big chicago wholesale gift show.......and i can report seeing a lot of vintage trash to treasure displays, and store fixtures... ....some in some very upscale booths...lots of shutters, lots of old posts, and old doors....a comfy cottage look and some with a rustic romantic european look.
one of the best was a display in a beautiful christmas booth...kd vintage...they used old french windows and porch posts...it was stunning....i got some of their snowmen...but sorry no picture...it was like a fairy land..lots of white and silver tinsel etc etc...
... it was good to see that this fun trash to treasure, outside the box, neat vintage style was in displays and store fixtures all over the merchandise mart.... ...not too different from what my customers here in indiana come up with...
the whole day was kind of surreal... tons of girls and women in wild outfits, really wild!!! and then an amish family in their beards and hair nets and bulky plain dresses....they have big stores and go there to buy...what could they think of the cosmopolitan parade of people there at the mart? they barely show ankles..
doors and posts
here are some of the new cabinets coming thru lately..... the big wide one is with old porch posts....its a great size, just under 6 ft tall and nice and wide....weve made several....this one ended up bananaboat with white drybrushed on top.....
i love these old doors, we took the glass out and the panels...so the front is old and the cabinet all new.... we use beadboard in the back...
.i tried to keep a lot of the red in the top one....
the big wide porch post cabinet is great for a store fixture, kind of an outside the box store fixture!!.... lots of space and room on top for something big and dramatic....
they work great in houses of course.... kind of elegant, kind of trash to treasure.. but useful and beautifully repurposed and recycled...
